About the role

As GM - QML, you will own and scale SQC’s Quantum Machine Learning business unit. This is a full P&L leadership role, responsible for revenue growth, commercial strategy, product-market fit, and operational delivery.

You will sit at the intersection of advanced quantum hardware, applied machine learning, and enterprise adoption. Your mandate is clear: turn world-leading quantum capability into a repeatable, high-value commercial business.

The business model is focused on developing and deepening a small number of high-value relationships with major R&D spenders and multinational partners. You will expand these accounts, secure new revenue streams, and ensure that our Quantum Machine Learning products deliver measurable commercial impact.

You will spend meaningful time with customers and partners, shaping use cases, defining commercial structures, and guiding product evolution. Internally, you will align engineering, product, and commercial teams around clear financial outcomes.

This is a strategic and operational leadership role with direct accountability for growth, margin, and long-term business sustainability.

Role responsibilities

Business ownership and P&L leadership

• Own the P&L for the Quantum Machine Learning business unit, including revenue, margin, cost management, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.

• Define and execute the commercial strategy to scale revenue from existing cornerstone customers and secure new strategic partnerships.

• Build scalable pricing models, commercial frameworks, and contracting approaches aligned to enterprise customers and research-intensive partners.

Market and product strategy

• Identify high-value use cases where SQC’s quantum machine learning capabilities create differentiated impact.

• Work closely with technical teams to shape product development in line with market demand, ensuring commercial viability and defensible positioning.

• Translate market insight into roadmap priorities, balancing short-term revenue opportunities with long-term platform strategy.

Customer engagement and growth

• Serve as senior executive sponsor for key accounts, building trust-based relationships at both technical and executive levels.

• Expand revenue within strategic accounts by identifying new applications, integration pathways, and co-development opportunities.

• Ensure delivery excellence across consulting, integration, and applied quantum engagements.

Team leadership and operating model

• Build and lead a high-performance team spanning applied quantum, machine learning, customer solutions, and commercial support.

• Establish clear performance metrics aligned to revenue growth, customer success, and technical delivery.

• Develop scalable operating processes as the business unit matures.

External representation and thought leadership

• Represent SQC as a commercial and technical leader in quantum machine learning at industry forums and with strategic partners.

• Contribute to high-quality technical and commercial content that strengthens SQC’s market positioning.

Your experience

• Proven experience owning or materially influencing P&L in a technology, deep-tech, or advanced software business.

• Demonstrated ability to scale new products or business lines from early commercial traction to sustainable revenue growth.

• Deep technical fluency in machine learning and software systems. Exposure to quantum technologies or advanced hardware environments is highly desirable, but not required.

• Experience working with enterprise customers or R&D-intensive organisations, translating complex technical capability into commercial value.

• Strong commercial judgement, including pricing strategy, deal structuring, and financial modelling.

• Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams in fast-moving, high-accountability environments.

• Track record of expanding strategic accounts and delivering measurable revenue growth.

• Comfortable operating at executive level with customers, investors, and internal stakeholders.

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Quantum Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
