About the role
As Head of Quantum Customer Solutions, you will build and lead SQC’s customer-facing technical team to drive the adoption and commercialisation of our quantum computing products. This strategic, high-impact role sits at the intersection of technology, customer engagement, and business growth.
The business model for this function is predicated on developing and deepening a small number of strategic relationships with major R&D spenders. Your remit will be to gain and expand revenue from these relationships by delivering exceptional value, driving adoption, and identifying new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
You will spend significant time onsite with customers, building trust, understanding their needs, and collaborating with SQC technical teams to develop products and commercialisation strategies that address evolving customer requirements.
Role responsibilities
Serve as the primary executive interface for cornerstone customers, developing deep, trust-based partnerships, and guiding them on their quantum computing hardware journey to deliver measurable, long-term business impact.
Build and lead the Applied Quantum and Customer Solutions business line, fostering technical excellence, customer advocacy, and commercial focus.
Utilising market insights, collaborate with SQC’s internal teams to shape product development and ensure our offerings remain commercially viable and technically differentiated.
Develop and deliver consulting and solutions services around SQC’s products, partnering with customers to identify use cases, shape solution architectures, co-develop adoption roadmaps, and integrate quantum technologies into their operations for technical and commercial success.
Partner with internal teams to advise on software architecture, technology risk management and the development roadmap – particularly where customer requirements intersect with technical integration (e.g. APIs, developer tools, SDKs, documentation).
Represent SQC as a technical leader at industry events and in thought leadership content, create high-quality technical collateral, and provide credible support for SQC leadership in customer and public engagements.
Your experience
Demonstrated ability to understand customer use cases and translate them into actionable technical and commercial solutions.
Deep technical expertise in software, machine learning, and (ideally) quantum technologies, with the ability to quickly learn and integrate new concepts.
Experience leading technical teams and/or holding senior technical roles in complex, innovative environments.
Strong commercial acumen, with experience building business cases and partnering with sales, product, and business development teams.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage credibly with both executive and technical audiences.
Track record of delivering high-impact, short-term technical projects, as well as contributing to longer-term strategic initiatives.
Proven ability to build deep, trust-based relationships in customer-facing roles, deliver value through onsite engagement, and advocate for customer needs.
Experience with operational delivery, commercial orders, and sales targets is a plus.
Aptitude and appetite for thought leadership – able to generate compelling content for blogs, conferences, and industry forums.
Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Quantum Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
