Vice President, Fab Development
Lead the build of SQC’s first dedicated semiconductor fab - from greenfield to production - driving strategy, delivery, and partnerships for a scalable quantum future.
About us
Silicon Quantum Computing (SQC) is at the forefront of global efforts to build the world's first commercial-scale quantum computer, while delivering quantum-enhanced AI and simulation products to customers today.
Backed by over 25 years of technological excellence, SQC is a full-stack quantum computing company that leverages its proprietary manufacturing process to engineer atomic qubits in silicon with 0.13 nanometer precision. It is the most precise semiconductor manufacturing in the world, enabling systems with world-leading algorithmic fidelity, and a decisive advantage in the global quantum computing race.
Our products are commercially deployed and generating revenue. Watermelon, our quantum-enhanced AI system, is delivering superior results on real-world problems across energy, telecom and finance. Quantum Twins, our simulation platform, provides unparalleled ability to model quantum systems, accelerating molecule and materials discovery.
This is SQC: building the future of computing while delivering quantum impact today.
About the role
We're seeking a Vice President, Fab Development to lead the build of SQC's first dedicated semiconductor fabrication facility, the physical foundation for our silicon-based quantum hardware roadmap. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, with direct and frequent engagement with the CEO and Board, this executive-level role offers end-to-end ownership of a multi-year capital build and deep exposure to senior leadership, government, and world-class scientific and technical teams.
You'll own the program from a greenfield site to a fully commissioned fab, spanning planning, design, regulatory approvals, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover into production. You will operate at program and commercial level, directing specialist technical work through expert hires and partners, and you will hand-pick and pace the team as the program scales. This is a role for someone who brings structure, commercial discipline and world-class delivery to genuinely hard problems, and who is at home with stakeholders at every level, internal and external.
If you have a background delivering semiconductor fabs, specialty cleanrooms or major capital programs, this is a rare opportunity to make your mark on a foundational build.
Role responsibilities
Act as the single owner of the facility program, accountable for schedule, budget and commercial risk end to end
Lead site selection, lease and property negotiation, Development Applications and the full regulatory pathway
Drive state and federal government engagement, including grants, incentives and partnerships, with Corporate Development
Direct facility layout, process flow, systems architecture and Class 5 (ISO 5) cleanroom design specification, with technical leads
Own procurement strategy, vendor and equipment-partner selection, tooling sequencing and supplier relationships
Oversee construction alongside the construction prime and sequence the build against the production ramp plan
Manage delivery partners commercially and contractually through delivery
Lead initial commissioning, phased stand-up of production lines and handover into operations
Build and scale the function, owning headcount strategy and pacing across procurement, facilities, operations and program management
Your experience
A demonstrable passion for technology and an interest in frontier tech
Led or co-led delivery of a semiconductor fabrication facility at comparable scope, with personal ownership of program, schedule and commercial risk. Greenfield build, specialty fab, or major expansion
Class 5 (ISO 5 / Fed Std 209E Class 100) cleanroom delivery experience
Capital program ownership across multi-year phases at or above this scale
Program and commercial leadership at executive level
Experience leading programs where scope or major inputs were unresolved at the start
A working style that operates at program and commercial level, directing technical work through others and managing stakeholders across government, vendors, and internal executive and technical teams
Professional and collaborative in nature
The recruitment process
For roles at SQC, expect 3-4 interviews, meeting a few members of the team and focusing on your core eligibility for the role, your skills and how they align, and finally your values and how they align. We'll give you a more specific runthrough if you're successful in making it to the first interview.
As part of our obligations to our clients, we require that successful candidates submit to background checks, including a National Police Check, Right to Work checks, as well as employment and qualifications verification. We won't contact anyone until we're confident there's a fit between SQC and yourself.
